Friends of Old Time Music and Dance and the Charleston Chamber Music Society, join with FestivALL to present a delightful mix of classic jazz and traditional / contemporary folk music.

There will be a dance workshop (contra, waltz) before the concert in the Great Hall and the evening will be topped off by contra and square dancing on stage, so bring the family and have a great time!

The Caswell Sisters, Sara (violin) and Rachel (vocals) are both award winning jazz musicians. Sara, classically trained at University of Indiana, has been a jazz violin standout for the past decade and is presently touring with recent Grammy winner, Esperanza Spalding. Rachel, noted for her extraordinary scatting ability and sensitive song interpretation, has performed with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, John Blake, Jr., Ingrid Jensen and the Billy Taylor Trio. The Caswells will be joined by Charleston's premier jazz man, Bob Thompson, and his trio.

The Contrarian with Nery Arevalo perform a variety of music on fiddles, guitar, mandolin, piano, tenor banjo, upright bass, bluesy trumpet, sax and vocals, and now percussion as well. Composed of outstanding local musicians, they have performed throughout the East, receiving rave reviews for their dazzling musicianship and great original tunes. They are comfortable in a variety of styles and traditions: Celtic, New England, swing, and of course, old-time (Appalachian).

The evening will be topped off by contra and square dancing on stage, so bring the family and have a great time!
