New Format for 2008: This will be an all volunteer event with
Open Mics for Callers and Musicians. Please come and share your talent!
Musicians: Bring your instruments for all kinds of fun: Performing on stage, Jamming, Morning Waltzes, Music at the fire circle, Attend or Lead a Workshops!
Special Guest: Wayne Erbsen will join us for the weekend! See details on the Workshops page and the Special Guests page. The Schrodinger Cats will be play for the Saturday night dance and for other dances as needed.
Callers: Please bring your calling cards! Several area callers will be on hand for the weekend. More are welcome.
Dancers: Bring your Dance shoes! Beautiful wood dance floor in a Great dance hall, with plenty of doors to keep us cool. The Schrodinger Cats will play and David Mould will call for the Saturday Night Contra Dance and other dances as needed to keep dancers moving! For more about them see our Special Guests page. They’re joining us so that dancing is a certainty. We always welcome more bands, musicians and callers for the open mics, as we have plenty of opportunities for everyone.
The Public is welcome! If you’re not a musician or dancer, you’re welcome to join us for a unique and fun experience. Take in the old time musicians in the park. Stay up late at a fire ring jam. Join a dance workshop, a morning waltz, or try a contra dance. You don’t need to bring a partner. It’s easy to learn with a walking step. You may recognize some of the moves from square dancing. And every dance starts with a walk through!
Just come out and join us - for the weekend, the day, or just the Friday or Saturday night dance. It's too late to send in a registration, so just come and pay at the door.
Saturday Evening Potluck: Bring a dish to share, and join us in the dining hall! Other meals are on your own – you can bring food to prepare yourself or with others (kitchen will be available), or there are several nice restaurants nearby.
Outdoor Activities Abound in the New River Gorge area: Hiking, Biking, Bird Watching, Whitewater Rafting, Kyaking and Driving Adventures nearby!
If you can lead a class or workshop (dance, music, or other), please contact us! Want to lead a bird walk or help show off the beauty of nature another way? We're open to suggestions.
Housing included: You may choose to stay in the group cabins or bring your own tent/camper: There's plenty of space for camping.
Full commercial kitchen to prepare or warm your food. Also fridge/freezer space to keep food (or ice cream) fresh for Saturday potluck/ other meals.
It's Amazingly affordable
$30 or less/the weekend for earlybirds who help us make it happen.
