Driving Directions
 
To Fayette County Park/4H Camp from Fayetteville, WV
Fayette County Park/4H Camp is five miles west of Fayetteville, WV, near Beckwith, WV.

Driving directions

  1. At the intersection of US-19 and WV-16 [near Fayetteville, WV], take WV-16 N (toward Beckwith, WV). Go 4.4 miles
  2. On the right, look for brown road sign: "Fayette County Park 500 feet".
  3. On the left, look for green road sign: "Fayette County Park Road" and for a carved wooden sign: "Fayette County Park 4H". There will also be FOOTMAD Festival signs.
  4. Turn left onto Fayette County Park Rd [WV County Rd 8].
  5. Go 1.3 miles. The road forks. Ttake the right fork.
  6. Go 0.2 miles to the park entrance. T turn right onto the circular, one-way drive. Go about 200 feet. Look on the right for signs directing you the check-in table.

Warning

If you ask the local people in Fayetteville for directions to "Fayette County Park", they will send you to the front lawn of the county courthouse, which locally, is also called the "Fayette County Courthouse Park"

The "Fayette County Park" at which the Fall Festival is being held is known locally as the Fayette County 4H Camp.

 
To Fayetteville from the South
Driving Directions:
  1. Take I-77 N to Exit 48/US-19..
  2. Follow US-19 N. Go 20 miles to the intersection of WV-16 (at Fayetteville, WV).
    Note: WV-16 intersects US-19 several times. Be sure to go to the exit at the Fayetteville intersection. (Landmark: There is a stop light at the intersection. Tudor's Biscuit World is on the right [east]).
  3. Turn left onto WV-16 North.
  4. Follow directions above for "Fayetteville, WV to Fayette County Park".

Distance to the Park:

  • From Beckley, WV: 25 miles
  • From Bluefield, WV: 70 miles.
  • From Charlotte, NC: 225 miles.
 
To Fayetteville from the North via I-79S
Driving Directions:
  1. Take I-79 S to Exit 57/US-19 (10 miles south of Flatwoods, WV).
  2. Take US-19 S. Go 53 miles to the intersection of WV-16 (at Fayetteville, WV).
  3. Prior to reaching the WV-16 intersection, you will cross the New River Gorge Bridge. WV-16 at Fayetteville is the first intersection south of the bridge (about 1/2 mile). It has a stop light. (Landmark: Tudor's Biscuit World is on the left [east]).
  4. Turn right on to WV-16 North.
  5. Follow directions above for "Fayetteville, WV to Fayette County Park".

  • From Clarksburg, WV: 116 miles.
  • From Morgantown, WV: 146 miles.
  • From Pittsburgh, PA: 236 miles.
 
To Fayetteville from the North via I-77S
Driving Directions:
  1. Take I-77 S to Charleston, WV.
  2. In Charleston, follow signs for I-77 S/I-64 E.
  3. Follow directions above for "To Fayette County Park / 4H Camp From the West":

To Fayetteville from the East
Driving Directions:
  1. Take I-64 W to junction of I-64 and I-77 (just south of Beckley, WV).
  2. Follow I-64 W/I-77 N to
  3. Take Exit 48 to North Beckley (US-19)/Summersville. Go 20 miles.
  4. Turn left at WV-16 (at Fayetteville, WV). Go 5.1 miles.
    Note: WV-16 intersects US-19 several times. Be sure to go to the exit at the Fayetteville intersection. (Landmark: There is a stop light at the intersection. Tudor's Biscuit World is on the right [east]).
  5. Follow directions above for "Fayetteville, WV to Fayette County Park".

To Fayetteville from the West
Option 1: The Scenic Route
There are two options available for getting from Charleston, WV to the festival site.

This is Option 1: the scenic route, the shortest distance to the site, and the shortest travel time to the site.

It follows a two lane highway. for most of the distance. There is ten mile segment in the middle of the ride that consists of a lot of up-hill-down-hill-twisty-curve driving. This segment seems to bother some folks sensitive to car sickness.

The driving distance for this route is about 25 miles shorter than it is for Option 2.

Driving Directions:

  1. From Charleston, WV, follow I-77 S/I-64 E to Exit 85 [Chelyan, WV]. Follow signs for US-60/Chelyan/Cedar Grove.
  2. Cross the "Admiral TJ Lopez Bridge".
  3. US-60 E [turn right off of the bridge] to WV-16 [Chimney Corners].
  4. Take WV-16 South to Beckwith, WV.
  5. Go 4.1 miles. On your right look for the store named, "The Store".
  6. About 50 yards past "The Store", look for Fayette County Park Road on the right.
  7. Follow "Fayetteville, WV to Fayette County Park" directions above [starting at Fayette County Park Rd"].

Distance to the Park:

  • From Charleston, WV, 49 miles.
  • From Huntington, WV, 93 miles.
  • From Lexington, KY, 218 miles.
 
To Fayetteville from the West
Option 2: The move easy going route
There are two options available for getting from Charleston, WV to the festival site.

This is Option 2: the easy route, the longest distance to the site, and the longest travel time to the site.

It consists of all interstate driving. However, I-77 South between Charleston and Beckley is a toll road, with two toll plazas on this segment of the road. Tolls are $1.25 at each toll plaza.

Driving Directions:

  1. From Charleston, WV, follow I-77 S/I-64 E to Exit 48 [US Route 19].
  2. US-19 N to WV-16 (at Fayetteville, WV).
    Note: WV-16 intersects US-19 several times. Be sure to go to the exit at the Fayetteville intersection. (Landmark: There is a stop light at the intersection. Tudor's Biscuit World is on the right [east]).
  3. Follow "Fayetteville, WV to Fayette County Park" directions above.
