The Contrarians
Hailing from West Virginia, the Contrarians are comfortable in a variety of styles and traditions: Celtic, New England, swing, and of course, old-time (Appalachian). They also write original material. With rhythmic variety, occasional glimpses of ethnic music, and unique improvisations, dancers let loose and never lose interest in the music.
The Contrarians sought after for dances and dance weekends for the lively, energetic spirit brought to their performances. Warren Doyle
Warren Doyle is a man of may talents: hiker, educator, dance entrepreneur and dance leader.
As a hiker, Warren has logged 32,000+ miles on the Appalachian Trail. He has written about his hiking experiences and teaches hiking workshops. In his role as an educator, Warren loves to visit campuses all around the southern Appalachians to share some of his experiences. In his role as a dance entrepreneur, Warren has had a leading role in organizing and presenting several dance weekends including: "Contradancers Delight" Holiday, Turkey Twirl, Appalachian Spring, and Wild and Wonderful. As a dance leader, Warren teaches workshops in waltz, swing, and Salty Dog rage. He is also an enthusiastic energetic caller of contas and squares. Suz Cleaver
Suz will lead workshops in Cajun and Zydeco dance. She is an avid dancer, traveling to Cajun and Zydeco venues in Louisiana and around the nation. She brings a warm and vibrant personality to her dance workshops. Even novice dances are soon up and dancing to the infectious Cajun / Zydeco tunes when Suz leads a dance.
