For 23 season [September 1981 through September 2003], we published FOOTPRINT, our newsletter of traditional music and dance news and commentary.

During those years, the newsletter was available free to all subscribers. Over time, production costs rose steadily. Gradually, what had been a minor cost to us began to be a major component of our annual budget - on the expense side of the ledger. We made several attempts to solicit contributions for payed subscriptions. Each attempt resulted in a meager response and an inconsequential amount of money raised.

Finally, sharply increasing production costs began to overwhelm our budget. That and the ever increasing amount of time required for writing, editing, printing, and mailing FOOTPRINT overwhelmed our volunteer workers. It was decided that the decent thing to do was lay the beast to rest. So we did.

The result was that we went from a budget deficit in our 2002-2003 season to a small budget surplus in our 2003-2004 season.

We still maintain a mailing list of subscribers to whom we send flyers and announcements for FOOTMAD concerts, dances, and other activities.

We will continue to mail this printed flyer to those subscribers who choose to receive it by regular mail.

Producing and mailing a hardcopy flyer still involves considerable volunteer time, and is a drain on our budget.
